Enclosures

Exhibition at the Royal Danish Art Academy and Charlottenborg Art Hall, Copenhagen, Denmark

This project draws inspiration from John Hejduk's final works, featured in his book Sanctuaries. Hejduk's paintings present mythological scenes in pictorial segments, which have been reimagined and transformed into a spatial, life-sized installation titled Enclosures.

The challenge lies in elevating ordinary building materials to achieve a sublime architectural presence. The installation revolves around four symbolic incisions, each representing a distinct concept: Bell, Sun, Earth, and Ground. These concepts not only resonate with universal understanding but also serve as catalysts for developing an architectural language that embodies the mythological narratives depicted in Hejduk's work.

Bell symbolizes a sound that radiates outward, gathering us together. Sun represents a presence above us all. Earth signifies the common ground we share, and Ground reflects the weight of our origins and ultimate destiny.
